What is Prestafolio?
What the platform does, who it is for and how each module fits your daily operation.
Prestafolio is where you run your whole lending business: who you lend to, how much you lent, what they owe today, what they paid, how much cash is in the drawer and how much you earned. It replaces the notebook, the collection book and the scattered spreadsheets.
If you have never used the platform, this page is your map: it tells you what is inside and what each part is for. When you finish, continue with First steps.
Who is it for?
- Individual lenders keeping their portfolio on paper, on WhatsApp or in Excel.
- Lending businesses with collectors on the street, who need to know what each agent collected and how much cash they handed in.
- Businesses with recurring billing (monthly fees, memberships, plans) on top of loans.
All the work happens inside a company (your account). You can create your own or join someone else's with an invitation code. See Creating or joining a company.
What is inside
Clients
The record of who you lend to: name, ID or passport, phone, address, references and their scanned documents. Before lending to someone new you can check their payment history inside the platform. Start with Registering a client.
Loans
You create the loan (amount, rate, term and frequency) and the platform generates the payment schedule for you. It supports five ways of lending, the same ones used on the street:
System | In plain words |
|---|---|
Fixed installment | The installment is always the same; each one carries principal and interest. |
San | "San"-style split: the total is divided into equal installments. |
Fixed credit | Fixed principal per installment, interest goes down over time. |
Fixed interest | Only interest is paid; principal is settled at the end. |
Open loan | No schedule: the client pays whenever they can and interest accrues per day. |
The available frequencies are daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly.
Payments and arrears
You register the payment and the system decides what gets paid first (arrears, interest, principal), updates the balance, moves the cash and produces the receipt. You can also pay off a loan in full and reverse a payment entered by mistake. See Registering a payment.
Recurring services
Billing contracts that repeat (a monthly fee, a plan, a membership). The platform issues the charge every period on its own, and a charge can be pending, partially paid or settled. Contracts can be paused and cancelled.
Cash
The physical money of the day. You open the shift with whatever is in the drawer, the platform records every inflow and outflow (collections, disbursements, reversals, adjustments) and on closing it does the cash count: it tells you how much should be there, you count what is there, and the difference is recorded.
Accounting
Every collection and every disbursement writes itself into a double-entry ledger. Without typing a single journal entry, the platform knows how much cash you hold, how much principal is out on the street, and how much you earned in interest, arrears and services. Your financial statements come from there.
Agents and permissions
You invite your collectors by email, with a code. There are two roles: the owner (OWNER), who can do everything, and the agent (AGENT), who can only do what you grant: create clients, collect, see the business cash, and so on. Whatever an agent is not granted simply does not appear on their screen.
Reports, documents and audit
Portfolio, arrears, collector performance and the collection book. The loan's promissory note and an audit trail of who did what.
What Prestafolio is NOT
It is not an external credit bureau and it does not query any credit reporting agency. The payment history you see is the one built inside the platform itself, from the real activity of the lenders who use it. See Trust and the bureau.
