Trust and the bureau
What the trust level is, where the score comes from, and how to check a borrower before lending.
Next to every client's name you will see a coloured label: Excellent, Good, Regular, Delinquent or Not recommended, with a number from 0 to 100. That is their trust level.
What it is, exactly
It is a payment history native to Prestafolio, built from what happens inside the platform.
It is not an external credit bureau. Prestafolio does not query any credit reporting agency, bank, or third-party delinquency list. Everything you see comes from the loans and payments that lenders record on the platform itself.
The key point: the history is attached to the ID number, not to your client record. If that person paid badly in the portfolio of another lender who also uses Prestafolio, it counts. And the other way round: if they pay you religiously, their grade improves for everyone.
No ID, no history. That is exactly why the ID number is required when registering any client: without a document, the platform would have nothing to attach their payment behaviour to. See Registering a client.
Checking a borrower before lending
While creating a client, type the ID number and press Verify. If that person has a history, you will see their level and their behaviour:
Data | What it tells you |
|---|---|
Total / active loans | How much they have borrowed and how much is open right now |
Uncollectible loans | How many times someone wrote them off |
On-time / late payments | Their punctuality, in numbers |
Maximum days late | The worst they have ever been |
Number of lenders | How many people they owe or have owed |
Total borrowed / total paid | The volume they have moved |
You will never see another lender's private data: no names, no individual amounts, no company. Just the behaviour summary. Exactly what others will see about your clients.
You can run up to 30 lookups per minute. Plenty for working, and enough to stop anyone from scanning ID numbers wholesale.
How the score is computed
The grade runs from 0 to 100 and comes from four signals:
Signal | Weight | What it looks at |
|---|---|---|
Punctuality | 55% | How many payments were on time versus late |
Current lateness | 20% | How many days late they are right now (from 90 days on, it is as bad as it gets) |
Write-offs | 15% | How many of their loans were written off |
History | 10% | How many loans they have fully settled (5 is a full history) |
Recent behaviour counts double: payments in the last 12 months weigh twice as much as older ones. Someone who paid terribly three years ago but has been spotless for a year recovers.
And three rules override the calculation:
- A write-off in the last year → cannot exceed 30 (Delinquent or worse).
- More than 30 days late right now → cannot exceed 40.
- Not a single late payment, no lateness, and 3 settled loans → at least 80 (Excellent).
The five levels
Level | Score | Read it as |
|---|---|---|
Excellent | 80-100 | Pays, and pays on time |
Good | 60-79 | Reliable, with the odd slip |
Regular | 40-59 | Runs late, but pays |
Delinquent | 20-39 | Serious payment problems |
Not recommended | 0-19 | Very bad history |
No history | N/A | Nobody has recorded payments for them yet |
"No history" is not "bad". It is a new client, and the platform refuses to invent a zero that would look like a bad grade. It simply knows nothing about them yet: decide for yourself.
FAQ
Can I change a client's grade? No, neither you nor anyone else. The score and level are not editable fields: the platform computes them from real payments. If they could be edited they would be worthless.
They just paid and nothing changed. The history is recomputed once a day, not instantly. You will see it updated tomorrow.
Can another lender see my clients? They see the behaviour summary of an ID they already have in front of them, never your portfolio. They cannot list your clients, know how much you lent, or which company they deal with. Isolation between companies is not broken: the only thing shared is the payment aggregates.
I added the ID afterwards. Is the history recovered? Yes. When you add or fix the ID number, the client is linked to that identity's history.
